U2 to Headline Glastonbury 2010 40th Anniversary Festival
It was announced today that U2 will be the headlining band for the 40th anniversary Glastonbury music festival next summer. This will be U2's first festival appearance in over 25 years. Glastonbury festival organizers have wanted the band to headline for years and will finally get their wish for the 2010 festival.
U2 will perform on the main Pyramid stage on June 25th, 2010. Glastonbury festival organizer Michael Eavis is already in eager anticipation of the band's agreement to headline the festival's 40th anniversary next summer.
"The 26-year-old rumour has finally come true," Eavis said. "At last, the biggest band in the world are going to play the best festival in the world! Nothing could be better for our 40th anniversary party. And there are even more surprises in the pipeline."
The Glastonbury festival, which can accommodate approximately 170,000 people, will be an international tour stop for U2 amidst the continuing 360 tour in North America next year. They will be playing a show in Edmonton, Canada on June 23rd before flying out to the UK for the Glastonbury performance. U2 will return to the States the following night to play a concert in Minneapolix.
