One thing I have noticed is how little attention political parties have given in the media to discussing the hot topic of the UK having an elected head of state. They seem to be 'hiding this subject' under the carpet.
Republic, the organisation that wants the UK to have an elected Head of State, had its Spring Conference today.
Their staff and supporters gave presentations on the key issues in the republican campaign - and examined how the main political parties have responded to them.
The conference included presentations on:
- Freedom of Information and the monarchy
- The Civil List
- The Queen's role in a hung parliament
- Promoting the campaign to Parliamentary candidate
- One political party, that is against the hereditary principle, is the Green Party.

An eleted head or a constitutional head makes no difference as long as power lies in some one else's hands. An elected head of state without vast executive powers, like US president,is good for nothing.
