LONDON RESEARCHER SEARCHING FOR UNIQUE AFRICAN AMERICAN FAMILY FOR DOCUMENTARY.

Ms. Zara Hayes of London, England is seeking helping in finding one unique African American family to be the subject of a Documentary about reverse migration from the North to the South.  The following is Ms. Zane's description of what the documentary will be about, and what the makers of it are looking for.

                                                 MOVING TO ALABAMA?

Do you know of a family that is thinking of returning to the South to live? Or has your own family returned recently?

I am writing from London, UK, regarding a documentary I am currently doing some background research for. I am working with an established documentary film maker who has a reputation of making successful documentaries for the BBC and other broadcasters and we're at the very early stages of research.  I am looking to speak to people who might be able to help me.

The project considers 'reverse migration' of African-Americans from Northern states to Alabama.  The film will follow a bi-racial couple with mixed race children who are planning to move from a Northern state to Alabama. Ideally, they'll be comprised of one African-American and one white parent, with bi-racial children. They could be moving for a range of reasons - a new job; to be close to an elderly relative; for a better quality of life; to return to their roots. The idea is to follow them as they make the journey to Alabama, and settle into their new lives. We're looking for strong, articulate characters, who would be willing to engage with the wider issues.

At this stage, I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with experience of/ opinions on reverse migration. If you know of anyone who is thinking of making such a move I'd love to hear from them. Don't hesitate to email me for more information about the project. I can be reached on zarahayes@hotmail.com
