Uttarakhand is on the radar of United Nation world tourism
organisation to enhance the tourism amenities in the state.
World Tourism Organization (UNWTO/OMT) is a specialized agency of the
United ‎Nations and the leading international organization in the
field of tourism. It serves as a ‎global forum for tourism policy
issues and a practical source of tourism know-how.

The International organization is preparing draft-plan which may be
finalized on year end 2008 to provide the holistic infrastructure
facilities to the Northern State of India.

Eco tourism, adventure tourism and spiritual tourism are three Mantras
to be followed up by the state as told by Prakash Pant the Minister
of tourism of Uttarakhand."We are developing 112 trekking routes in
the state and are in talks with the Forest Department to kick-start
new adventure tourism activities in forest areas to attract more
tourists," informed Pant.
Stepping World tourism organization in the state will boost the inflow
of foreign tourist and the infrastructure provided by the
International plan will bring economic and social upheaval change to
bring the state on the map of world tourism.

Natural beauty and aesthetic touch of the Uttarakhand will soon be
enjoyed by Indian and foreign tourist.

Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization
(UNWTO) Francesco Frangialli has said tourists could become a rare
breed as global warming takes its toll on holiday destinations.

UNWTO Assistant Secretary-General, Geoffrey Lipman thinks tourism
industry can play pivotal in order to mitigate the climate change of
the planet as well as UNWTO's actions towards greener solutions.
