Upcoming Actress Meera accused of being accomplice to murder
Gurugaon: Police have registered a case against actress Meera Chopra as an accomplice in the murder of a housewife.
One Ruchi Butan was found murdered in a house in Guragon and police suspected her husband Sumit Bhuttan to be the murderer. As the police suspect Sumit to be having an extra marital relationship with Meera Chopra (a cousin of famous actress Priyanka Chopra), they suspect her to be an accomplice and registered a case under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code. Meera who has acted in films like Bangaram, Vaana is an upcoming artiste.
Police said that Sumit first killed his wife and then hanged her. A police team has been sent to Delhi to arrest the model turned actress Meera Chopra they said. After arresting her, she would be produced in court and further investigation will be preceded on her role in the Ruchi’s murder said Police officials.
Ruchi’s relatives have also confirmed that Sumit had extramarital relationship with Meera Chopra and this led to frequent brawls between the husband and wife. On the day of her death, the couple had a big argument and Sumit had beaten his wife up. He later took her to a hospital, claiming that she has hanged herself. However, the hospital authorities have declared that she was brought dead.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Maheshwar Dayal said, “Sumit has admitted that keeping relationship with Meera ruined his marriage life. He also accepted that he beat Ruchi after which she hanged herself.”
