Uriel Jones, Legendary Motown Drummer, Dies at 74

Uriel Jones, a Motown drummer who was the last surviving member of the legendary session band The Funk Brothers, has died at the age of 74 after complications from a heart attack.

Jones famously performed with a string of hit makers including The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and Smokey Robinson.

Many were also introduced to Jones when he appeared in the music documentary film Standing in the Shadows of Motown.

He is survived by his wife June and three children.


Motown drummer Uriel Jones, best known for playing with the Temptations and Marvin Gaye, has died aged 74, a family member has confirmed.

The musician passed away in a Michigan hospital after suffering complications from a heart attack.
