From 'Buddha Collapsed out of Shame' Iranian filmmaker Hana Makhmalbaf's Buddha Collapsed out of Shame has been awarded at the 4th Traverse City Film Festival in the US.
The 20-year-old director's film received the Founders Prize of the event, which was held from July 29 to August 3, 2008 in Michigan.
Buddha collapsed out of Shame recounts the story of a six-year-old Afghan girl's daily trials on her way to school and portrays the devastating impact of war on the children of Afghanistan.
Makhmalbaf's first feature-length film has won numerous international awards including the Special Jury Award of Morocco's International Festival of Cinema Author and the peace award of the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival.
The Traverse City Film Festival is a charitable and educational non-profit organization, founded by the Academy Award-winning American filmmaker Michael Moore.
