Vanilla Ice, the rapper who broke hip-hop record sales with his Ice Ice Baby in the 1990s, and who has just signed for a second season of his reality TV show The Vanilla Ice Project, supercharges the real estate market with his new venture VanillaIceRealEstate.com. He’s sending the signal that the property market is alive in the midst of foreclosures, and that investors can still make money from real estate.

The DIY Network TV star, whose real name is Rob Van Winkle, proudly relates on his website that he invested earnings from his chart-breaking record Ice Ice Baby on houses in California, Florida and Utah. When his touring stopped, he had time to look at the properties he bought and saw they were not being put to good use, so he sold them. That’s when he realized that he could make millions, not only in the music business, but also in selling houses.

In his interview with HuffingtonPost, he said that the housing meltdown even made investing more profitable as he could buy houses at bargain prices. For instance, he was able to buy a house appraised at $800,000 for $400,000, according to a September 2010 New York Times September 2010 article. That was a staggering price cut of 50 percent!

Vanilla Ice had much success in South Florida, the place where he moved from his native Texas in his younger days, because of the popularity of beachfront mansions and lakeside luxury homes -- the types of homes ubiquitous in Florida.

Prospective investors can learn from Vanilla Ice through his real estate investment guide site VanillaIceRealEstate.com, and those considering Florida properties, particularly Tampa real estate, can get assistance at Tampa4U.com.
