Vic Chesnutt : Panic Pure : 9_21_1998

Singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt died today in Athens, Georgia. Vic Chesnutt had slipped into a coma yesterday after an alleged suicide attempt, and did not wake up. Rumors of his death began circulating this morning, but family members have confirmed that Vic Chesnutt has indeed passed away. Constellation Records, which releases Vic Chesnutt's music, posted a brief condolence message on their site today.

In a two-decade career, Mr. Chesnutt sang darkly comic and often disarmingly candid songs about death, vulnerability, and life’s simple joys.
Apparently Vic Chesnutt had taken an overdose of muscle relaxants.Vic Chesnutt's songs were covered for Sweet Relief II, which raises money for musicians who need medical care but have no insurance. Ironically, Vic Chesnutt was being sued for $35,000 for overdue medical bills, even though he was paying over $500 per month in insurance premiums. His financial situation was beyond Sweet Relief's scope.

I did not know of him until now and read up a little and listen to some of his music.

I am sorry I did not know him.
