Mumbai, Jan 11: Actress Vidya Balan known for realistic performances is now acting as a pregnant lady in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahani’ (story). T he actress who won laurels for her stellar performances in ‘Paa’, ‘Ishquiya’ and ‘No one Killed Jessica’ is now living in the role of a pregnant woman. She is so immersed in the character that she is objecting to others in the film unit to smoking as ‘smoking is injurious to the baby in the womb.’ Though every one in the film industry knows that she lives the character, the compulsive smokers in the film unit feel that banning smokers in the vicinity is taking it a little too far.

Kahani is the story of a pregnant woman searching for her husband who went missing. Major part of the film was shot in Kolkata and director Ghosh said he shot the film in real spots as budget did not permit erection of sets. He said though shooting in real locations in the crowded Kolkata city is a difficult task, they had done it successfully. He has revealed that Vidya was so much into her character, so much so that she started behaving like a  real pregnant woman and deanded people around her not to smoke. He added that the actress mentally prepares for her character so well that she portrays real life in the character. It is perhaps because of this devotion, she won so many awards for acting.
