Zombie Attacks Planned for AMC's The Walking Dead Premiere

The Walking Dead premieres on October 31, and AMC is doing its best to compete not only with other shows, but with Halloween itself. Indeed, who would stay inside and watch a zombie series, when he or she could dress up as a zombie instead? AMC hopes to tackle that conundrum, AMC and Fox (which will broadcast The Walking Dead outside the US) have teamed up to orchestrate some "zombie invasion" stunts around the world.

Think of it as an astroturfed zombie walk, with hundreds of people hired to shamble through the streets of major cities dressed like... the walking dead.

The first zombie attack will take place in Taipei and Hong Hong at dawn on October 26, moving to other cities around the world over the next 24 hours, such as stanbul, Madrid, Munich, London, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, Chicago, and New York. Washoington, DC residents are warned to take it all in stride:

If your Tuesday morning commute takes you in the vicinity of the Lincoln Memorial around 7:30 a.m., prepare to be jostled by some reanimated corpses, photographers and camera crews.

The stunt will culminate with a Los Angeles zombie attack to coincide with the premiere of The Walking Dead on October 31.
