WALL•E Wins Big with the CFCA, But Can the Bot Do So at the Oscars?
Wall-E WINS Best Animated Feature at the Chicago Film Critics Awards!!
They also win four other prizes including Best Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best picture Award.
This is one huge victory for WALL•E which brings up the question once again, can our favorite little trash compactor win the Oscar for Best Picture, or even be nominated?
The awards, voted on by the 55 members of the organization (covering print, radio, television and the Internet) were announced on December 19 on WGN-TV by CFCA president Dann Gire and group members Dean Richards and Richard Roeper.
Having spent hundreds of years cleaning up the planet Earth, “WALL*E” has now gone on to clean up at the 2008 Chicago Film Critics Association Awards by taking home four prizes, the most presented to any one movie this year. In a year filled with tight races, the latest blockbuster from Pixar Animation and Walt Disney Studios won the awards for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score and Best Animated Film.
This achievement comes as no surprise to me.
When I watched the very first Wall-E sneak Peek in mid 2007, I knew right then he was something special.
Wall-E is among the ranks of some of the greatest loved characters in film, such as E.T., Johnny-5, R2-D2.
He is innocent, cute, sweet, kind and gentle.
All of the characteristics that make him an easy charater to feel for.
20 years from now, we are going to see the same love and affection for Wall-E that we see for other movie greats that have survived the test of time, and ultimately became classics!
Am I saying Wall-E is the next Gone with the Wind?
I am saying Wall-E is in a class of it's own, and will carry the love for the movie for a very long time.
If you are interested in seeing more of Wall-E, such as previews, sneak peeks and shorts, or you are a Tech-Geek who wants your own full size working Wall-E robot, check out www.Wall-EBuilders.com where you can become a member for free and join the thousands of other members who are working on having their very own Wall-E.
As for the movie, well if you haven't seen it, you need to!
If you don't have it, get it Here!
I originally was going to purchase mine from Walmart, but it was about $10 cheaper at the Amazon store.
