Watch CLT20 2012 Kolkata Knight Riders vs Auckland Aces
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir won the toss and decided to bat against Auckland Aces in their Champions League T20 match at Newlands in Cape Town. Watch here.
KKR have made just one serious change for this match by dropping Brett Lee and replacing him with all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Meanwhile, Auckland Aces are unchanged from their two qualifying matches.
The Knight Riders head into this match after being crushed by Delhi Daredevils by 52 runs in their opening Champions League Twenty20 match on Saturday.
KKR, the reigning IPL champions, made a mess of their run chase with three wickets falling in seven balls.
To make matters worse for them, Jacques Kallis retired hurt without scoring in the 10th ball after being hit on his fingers by a Morne Morkel rising delivery.
Gambhir continued his poor form as he was the first one to go for a golden duck in the third ball of the innings. He holed out to Pietersen at mid-on failing to negotiate an inswinging delivery.
On the other hand, veteran all-rounder Azhar Mahmood grabbed five wickets and struck a half-century as Auckland Aces thrashed Hampshire by 8 wickets to qualify for the main draw of the Champions League Twenty20.
Mahmood then smashed an unbeaten 31-ball-55 to steer his side to a comfortable win with 33 balls to spare. The Pakistan discard hit five sixes and four boundaries during his innings.
Auckland has thus become the first team to qualify for the main tournament. The New Zealand T20 champions have won both their qualifying matches, having beaten Sialkot Stallions earlier.
