Blade star Wesley Snipes has been ordered to begin a three-year prison sentence by US District Judge Terrell Hodges, who rejected Snipes' appeal for a new trial. (Wesley Snipes sentencing memorandum- pdf)

Hodges revoked Wesley Snipes' bail two years after convicting Snipes on tax evasion charges. In 2008, Wesley snipes was found guilty of two counts of tax evasion, having not paid taxes on over $38 million in income. The misdemeanor tax convictions carry a 36-month federal prison sentence.

It was not clear when or where Snipes would begin serving his time behind bars, however.

Snipes' Atlanta-based lawyer, Daniel Meachum, told the Orlando Sentinel the ruling was "just shocking."
