NP Rank:
What do Cynthia Davis and Courtney Love Have in Common?
They both think not eating is a good idea.
It is official Cynthia Davis, a Missouri State Representative, is the worst person in the world.
On Cynthia Davis’s website she has responded to a press release, which has created uproar all over the Untied States.
Who should be the one to pass judgment on what defines a nutritious meal?
This is a response to bills that would limit the amount of fat in school meals to 30% and ban vending machines. In a country where obesity is one of the major killers, I think this woman would be compared to a tobacco lobbyist, though she is doing a pretty terrible job of it by running a Christian bookshop.
If parents are laid off, that doesn’t mean they stop feeding their children, at least not any of the parents I know. Laid off parents could adapt by preparing more home cooked meals rather than going out to eat.
I would pay close attention to the wording she uses. No facts, only heuristics. Here are the facts 1 in 5 Missouri kids is living with hunger. Pretty simple. How about another fact. The United States jobless rate has reached 9.4% in May. Children who do not receive the right nutrition at the right age can be permanently damaged. Neglecting this serious issue does not only "stop big government" as Cynthia champions, but put an unforeseen and much larger burden on the public than $2.50 per meal.
Why have meals at home with your loved ones if you can go to the government soup kitchen and get one for free?
I would offer the reverse of that question. Why would you go to a soup kitchen if you could have a meal with your loved ones? I think the obvious reason is because you can't.
The estimated expense for all of these “free” meals for 2009 summer months is $9.8 million. The cost of each lunch meal is $3.1825, the cost of each breakfast is $1.8150, and the cost of each supplement is $0.7525. (They call a snack a “supplement”.)
Bigger governmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another.
I just don't understand this woman. First she complains about the money, and then she says she wants an egalitarian society. A strictly capitalistic society will never offer this. 'Big Government' is there to redistribute the wealth and stabilize society’s inequalities so we can have a 'brotherhood.'
The problem of childhood obesity has been cited as one of the most rapidly growing health problems in America. People who are struggling with lack of food usually do not have an obesity problem.
To add insult to injury first Ms. Davis complains about to much government regulation in schools, with the proposed banning of vending machines and excessive fat content in cafeteria meals and then she offers an alternative to fighting the obesity problem by starving the children. So what have we learned? Nutritious meals bad! Mars bar good! WTF?
Last week she opposed subsidizing school lunches for low income children during summer months saying, "Hunger can be a positive motivator."
Keith Olbermann and Colbert have responded to Ms. Davis's comments in kind. Colbert has called for everyone in the country to motivate Cynthia Davis by not feeding her. Politicians have called for Cynthia Davis's resignation from the Children and Families Committee. Both I think are more than adequate responses.
In a letter to House Speaker Ron Richard, Minority Leader Paul LeVota requested Davis be removed as chairwoman of the Children and Families Committee.
In related news, after hearing Ms. Davis's comments Courtney has announced that she will begin eating again in an attempt to become more of a disgrace than she already is.
she's vowed to put on 15 pounds in one month.

This woman is awful, where does she get off saying things like this? Hunger is not a good motivator to do anything except steal to feed yourself because you are so hungry. Starving kids is not the answer, maybe she could offer up some of the food she is obviously getting and donate some money to help the children in her state; at least that would be a positive step.

I am shocked! She is probably a good Church going member of the community as well.
