NP Rank:
What Kind of Friends Send 217,000 Text Messages Per Month?
The numbers leave your head spinning: how could two friends possibly send each other 217,000 text messages in one month?
Did they spend any time doing anything else? What could possibly be left to say when every second of their existence was shared via SMS?
Oh, and it turns out their "unlimited" text messaging plans had limits — one of the friends got hit with a $26,000 phone bill for this dubious thumb-happy "achievement".
Oh, and it also turns out that these friends aren't a technology-addicted pair of tweeny boppers — nope, Nick Andes and Doug Klinger are adult men pushing 30.
Which leads us again to wonder: why? why? why?
Two central Pennsylvania friends spent most of March in a text-messaging record attempt, exchanging a thumbs-flying total of 217,000.
For one of the two, that meant an inches-thick itemized bill for $26,000.
Nick Andes, 29, and Doug Klinger, 30, were relying on their unlimited text messaging plans to get them through the escapade, so Andes didn't expect such a big bill.
Oh, and to anyone thinking of one-upping these thumbtastic geeks by besting their number of monthly messages via Twitter status updates — forget about it.
Go outside and do something interesting. Then get really revolutionary and not tweet about it.

People have too much time on their hands or just begging for attention. I only ever use SMS for short message; as acronym say. Like Esta say, anything longer they should pick up the phone.
I always believe there are multi forms of communications: eMail, phone, in person, SMS and IM. The latter two now have other equivalents like Twitter. Each have their purpose and senders should have respective different expectations in terms of respond time from the receiver.
