Ok, so here’s a holiday wherein you are expected to buy something and you don’t see what’s wrong with it? Every single aspect of the thing involves you dispersing your wealth to somebody’s shareholders.

I cannot see the buying of goods at Christmas as a valid argument against Christmas.
What's wrong with spending money, after all you cannot take it with you.
But to be serious the purchasing of goods (presents) keeps many people in employment. If you did save money by not buying presents at Christmas it is most likely that you will spend the money on something for yourself thus increasing the wealth of shareholders (possibly your pension fund in both cases).
