New York City never ceases in bringing all types of influences at an international level, particularly it's lost causes which included colorful characters such as anarchists, hippies, yippies, yuppies, bohemians, punk rockers, communists, anti-war activists, anti-birth, save the fish, even the German American Bund movement.

Some movements like the 'New York City Draft Riots' have been rewritten and misrepresented in history books when in actuality it symbolized a demonstration within a social urban experiment that confirmed the belief that the good guys actually lost.

There had been lesser known moments in time such as the "Know Nothing" movement. The 'Know Nothing' movement was an American political movement to curb immigration & naturalization, empowered by popular fears that the United States was being over-run by Germans & Irish Catholic regarded as hostile to Anglo-Saxon Protestant values and controlled by a Pope in Rome.

Membership was limited to Protestant males of British lineage over age 21.

It originated in 1843 in New York as the American Republican Party but spread to other states as the Native American Party and became a national party in 1845 renaming itself the American Party.

In California 1854, Sam Roberts founded a Know-Nothing chapter in San Francisco in opposition to Chinese and Irish immigrants.

The key to 'Know Nothing' success in 1854 was the collapse of the second party system by the demise of the Whig party. The nativist spirit of the Know Nothing movement was revived in later political movements, such as the Ku Klux Klan, the American Protective Association, and George Wallace's 1968 presidential campaign ran under the "neo-Know Nothing banner". Even US President Millard Fillmore became a member of the American Party shortly after his term as president.

The origin of the "Know Nothing" term was in the semi-secret organization of the party. When a member was asked about its activities, he replied, "I know nothing", just like the Occupy Wall Street Protesters. They knew nothing.

Is the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement now defunct? Some of those who participated have stated that it isn't over till it's over. Others compared themselves to history saying, "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

Can the Occupy Wall Street movement be categorized among those 'here today, gone tomorrow' current affairs. What about it's members?

Where are they now?

During the course of the revolution, the western press published false estimates of the number of people killed by the Securitate in attempting to support Ceaușescu to quash a rebellion. The count increased rapidly to 64,000 fatalities but the Hungarian military attaché expressed doubt regarding these figures, pointing out the unfeasible logistics of killing such a large number of people in such a short period of time. After Ceaușescu's murder by execution, hospitals across the country reported that an actual death toll of less than one thousand or much lower than that.

Li Bai became a Taoist, making a home in Shandong, wandering here and there writing poems till disorder burst across the land as the disturbances continued he escaped but was later captured and sentenced to death. Through the intervention by then famous and powerful Guo Ziyi, whom he had a couple of decades earlier saved from a court martial, his death sentence was commuted to exile in remote Yelang, in Yunnan, towards which he proceeded writing poems again.

An unidentified flying object was photographed by a government employee over the Holloman Air Development Center in New Mexico. Conspiracy theorists have claimed the photo is proof that the U.S. government has been in contact with aliens.

The Twin Towers became the Freedom Tower and Freedom Tower became the Coward Tower when the gutless decided not to make it the tallest building in the world

Not known to the public but as the NYPD cleared Zuccotti Park a U.S. infantry company deployed by 20 helicopters and 7 Cobra attack helicopters circled behind supported by B-52 Stratofortresses escorted by U.S. F-4 Phantom IIs and ROK F-5 Freedom Fighters from Taegu Air Base including General Dynamics F-111 bombers of the 430th Tactical Fighter Squadron out of Mountain Home Air Force Base. The aircraft carrier Midway task force had also been moved to a station offshore. In addition, near the edges of the DMZ, many more heavily armed U.S. and ROK infantry, artillery including the Second Battalion, 71st Air Defense Regiment armed with HAWK missiles, and armor were waiting to back up the special operations team. Bases near the DMZ were prepared for demolition in case of a military response. The defense condition (DEFCON) was elevated on the order of General Stillwell. In addition, 12,000 additional troops were ordered from Korea, including 1,800 Marines from Okinawa.

Also two men stood at the corner of Grand and Mott streets after what looked to be an argument, one of the men reached suddenly toward his hip pocket, pulled out a revolver and fired. The man who was shot fell to the sidewalk, the shooter fled down the street, with several witnesses in pursuit. One of them was Policeman Richard Wilson, who was off duty, the other was Frank Nelken, of 225 Sackett street, Brooklyn. The assailant ran down Mott street to Hester and was making for the park, when Nelken, who proved the faster, reached out and grabbed the man by the neck. The man stopped and began to cry, saying he would submit to the police begging that his captors keep the crowd from doing him harm. He was taken to the Mulberry street station house where he said he was Udrico Pavonne, a 33 years old stenographer presently out of work living at 127 Hester street. He told the police that the man he had shot who was died instantly, was an agent of the "Black Hand", identified as Annuniato Ligato, 45 years old, a saloonkeeper from Tarrytown Road, White Plains, who demanded that he pay to him $500 on pain of death. He said he refused to be blackmailed, having only $28 in his pocket so he shot Ligato because he believed it was a case of his life or Ligato's. When the body of Ligato was examined by the police a 38-calibre fully loaded revolver was found in one of the pockets of his trousers. The Manhattan police communicated with the White Plains police and from them it was learned that Ligato is notorious as being a member in the "Black Hand", but nothing has ever been proven against them, as is the case in all "Black Hand" affairs. Coroner Acritelli viewed the body of the dead man. He said that Ligato was one of the men who was implicated in the murder of an Italian in Harlem's "Little Italy" on the night of Oct. 12. Ligato and others arrested at the time were discharged in court, as usual, to lack of evidence.

"And so began the journey north to safety to our place in the sun. Among us we found a new leader: The man who came from the sky, the Gyro Captain. And just as Pappagallo had planned we traveled far beyond the reach of men on machines. As for me, I grew to manhood and in the fullness of time, I became the leader, the Chief of the Great Northern Tribe. And the Road Warrior? That was the last we ever saw of him. He lives now only in my memory."

(Last exempt from 'The Road Warrior' by Terry Hayes, George Miller, Brian Hannant April 13, 1981)
