The soundtrack to the eagerly anticipated Spike Jonze flick Where The Wild Things Are was released today, September 29, 2009, but before you go out and snatch up a copy give it a listen here, just to make sure it's worth the $9.99 on iTunes. Who am I kidding, of course it's worth the cost; the soundtrack was composed by Yeah Yeah Yeah's frontwoman Karen O who teamed up with a slew of note-worthy artists to form Karen O And The Kids.
The “Kids” compromise of Tristan Bechet, Tom Biller, Bradford Cox (Deerhunter), Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs), Aaron Hemphill (Liars), Greg Kurstin (The Bird and the Bee), Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, The Greenhornes), Oscar Michel (Gris Gris), Imaad Wasif (New Folk Implosion, Alaska), Nick Zinner, (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and an untrained children’s choir.
The film isn't due out til October 16, 2009 but for the time being you can satisfy your inner 'wild thing' with the undoubtedly glorious soundtrack. "The kids are alright."
