Whitney Houston made her first public appearance in years today in Central Park for a concert to be aired on Good Morning America on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. During the gig though, Houston missed her high notes as her voice cracked throughout the set. The ex-Mrs. Bobby Brown blamed her crackin' voice on a taping she did for Oprah earlier that day saying to the crowd, "when I'm talking I should be singing."
As for reports Whitney cut the gig short because of a strained voice, her rep tells TMZ "She was only ever committed to two songs, so she actually extended the show to the third and fourth songs."
The concert was still a hit with the audience filling in the high-notes for her.
Crack may be whack but Houston had experience with it and I would say she handled it much better this time than before.

When Whitney Houston sang on Good Morning America on Wednesday Sept 2nd, I was blown away when she sang her first note. I love whitney but her singing isn't what it use to be and if she is going to entertain fans she has to go out in a bang doing open concert and she didnt do that. Her voice cracked and blaming it on interviews and oprah is terrrible of her to do that. Whitney chose interviews and she chose to sing. My advice to her is to rest and maybe she can come back to do good morning america and sing her heart and prove to her fans, she can sing once again.I love you! whitney.

Why do you think Sly stone stopped producing music. He did cocaine also and it tears your voice up. Must really affect the vocal cords. Too bad.

Too bad. That's funny! I would have thought Sly didn't sing anymore because he stinks at it...Oh, yeah, he does!Whitney can't sing anymore because if her bad choices to do drugs, and that is such a shame because she had the voice of an angel!

There are a lot of reasons why this this could of happened. I am a lead singer in a Band and the repeated practice can put toll on your vocals. Age and abuse plays a big roll on a singers Vocals. I wishing Whitney the best on her comeback! Maybe she can't hit those highs like she used to, but she still is a great entertainer.

Yes, she was good at getting the audience to sing most of the songs.. I couldn't tell if she forgot the words or just couldn't hit the notes.
