So I was reading this article posted 3 days ago (July 3), but it was headline news today. Its seems as though it was important today. There is a survivalist-group that believes the Apocalypse would happen December 21, 2012.

"That's because Geryl believes the world as we know it will end in 2012. He points to the ancient Mayan cyclical calendars, the longest of which last renewed itself approximately 5,125 years ago and is set to end again, supposedly with catastrophic consequences, in 2012. He speaks of the ancient Egyptians, who, he claims, saw 2012 as a year of great change too. And he points to science: NASA predicts a sharp increase in the number of sunspots and sun flares for 2012, he said, sure to cause electrical failures and satellite disruptions."

Wow, you know, the news really has me laughing. I love the survival site, where they are counting down to the end of the world. Maybe this'll stir controversy, maybe not. but I am gonna take a Christian approach to this article. Let me start off with the date. Ok, the Mayan calender ends December 21st. Ok, last time I checked, the Mayans were an extinct civilization. Now, I know the whole saying of "there isn't a future without a past." But the Mayans?! Come on. Are we really gonna point to the Mayan calender and say "It's the end of the world?" Heck, the Mayan Civilization ended way before that anyway!

Ok, that's my rant about the Mayans. The End of the World is the Day Jesus Christ returns.  John wrote the book of Revelation in the Holy Bible. If there is all this doubt, paranoia and uncertainty as to what will happen, why not turn to Christ? The Bible makes it so obvious. It gives detail; and during this time isn't that what people want? It tells us "...He comes from the clouds of heaven. And EVERYONE will see him- even those who pierced him (Revelations 1:7, NLT)." When John has his vision he mentions a "...trumpet blast (Revelations 1:9, NLT)..." Jesus instructs John to write it all down, so that we may have an understanding; see Revelations 1:19-20. Ladies an gentlemen, I have merely given you an example. Please read the RIGHT information. Jesus will return, but I don't think the Mayans predicted the right date.
