Willie Nelson Gets a Haircut: The Haircut Heard Around the World

For over 25 years one of the first things that comes to mind when anyone thinks of Willie Nelson is the fact that he has waist-length hair usually held back in a thin tight braid and even sometimes two braids. Whether fans wanted to admit it or not, Willie Nelson's hair was almost as iconic as his music and his influence on country music.

Now however, Willie Nelson has started a new chapter in his life, and with the 'haircut heard around the world' he has stepped out with a short bob that does not even reach his shoulders. His head must feel a lot lighter. CBS has a photo of Willie Nelson's haircut.

Nelson is now 77-years-old and although fans are left wondering he decided to cut off his hair now, his spokeswoman Elaine Schock mused that the singer may have just decided it was time for a change. As anyone who has long hair knows as well, it can be a real pain to take care of.

"There's a lot of maintenance," she said.

Willie's hair may be cut but the music is thriving more than ever. "The fact is Willie has two sons with their own bands. "Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real have toured extensively with Dad and have built a strong national following. The band backing Mr. Nelson at Charlie's on Maui was L.A. based America folk rock band The Reflectacles with Micah Nelson on drums."
