Windows 7 is beating Mac OSX in market share. Whaaa?! Before you fanboys an' fangirls begin to riot, keep in mind two things:
The real news here is that Windows 7 is outselling Vista in its first month of sales, growing at a 3.9% monthly average. Its growth comes mostly at the expense of Windows XP, but, to a much lesser extent, also Mac OS X, as Appleās overall market share was 5.27% in October.
Oh, and Happy Birthday, Windows 1.0. You're better than Vista.

And the real news is that for the first month in several years, the total Windows market share grew and OS X fell - so maybe people have been buying new machines, and not macs. And in all fairness, Windows 7 has been on the market for single-digit weeks compared to OSX's years: You bet W7 will grow faster than OSX? Give me a break!

The thing I don't like about 7 is that both my xp machines won't take 7 without laughing at me.
so I have to buy 2 new computers

Its true Windows 7 have some compatibility issue with the old hardware, but you have to compromise at some place...

Vista got a lot of flak due to its completely botched soft launch. That coupled with lack of driver support made for a real bad time for early converts, and its deserved bad rap. Still, having just upgraded from it, I have to say, on a new computer it ran fine. Still, windows 7, while a little awkward at first, is fantastic!! Upgrade if you haven't already, already!

I really like Windows 7 and although it does look a lot like Vista, it's definitely more improved underneath
