Winehouse denied visa for Grammys

London (ANTARA News) - Amy Winehouse will not perform at this year's Grammy Awards after her US visa application was rejected by the country's embassy in London, BBC entertainment report said today.
The singer was fined for cannabis possession in Norway last year.
A spokesman for the troubled star said she was "disappointed", but had "accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery".
Winehouse has been nominated for six Grammy Awards ahead of the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
They include the major prizes of record, album and song of the year.
She is now expected to perform via satellite during the ceremony instead.
A statement from her management company did not say why her application was turned down.
The US Embassy in London and the State Department in Washington also declined to comment.
BBC entertainment reporter Colin Paterson said: "The blow to Amy Winehouse is that this was going to be one of the highlights of her whole career.
"She was going to be on the same bill as Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Herbie Hancock - all-time greats.
"The Grammys was the carrot her family and record company used as a way to persuade her to get into rehab. Now they're going to have to find another way to motivate her." END

uusjio, Amy Crackhead and her entoutrage of twits deserve everything they get and more. The woman is an absolute talentless "Waste of Space" period. The states has enough Junkies, and she doesn't need to be their poster child by going to the Grammy, good for the USA.

It is said this will be blow to Amy Winehouse is that this was going to be one of the highlights of her whole career. How about trying to stay alive and clean and not being found emaciated behind a fast food dumpster by an alley swimming in your own feces, that should be the highlight she should be trying to avoid.
