Forty years after the legendary Woodstock Festival first took place in Bethel, a number of the original bands who performed at its first incarnation, will gather once again to perform as part of a 40th anniversary concert.

The concert, scheduled for August 15, 2009, will include performances by Jefferson Starship, Big Brother and the Holding Co., Canned Heat, Helm Band (who first performed with The Band), The Levon, Mountain, and Country Joe McDonald.

The concert will be held at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, which was built on the site of the original Woodstock.

Woodstock took place the weekend of Aug. 15-17, 1969.
