NP Rank:
Worldrecord for Olympic Wedding - the biggest Wedding Party in the World
May be you already know that the number 8 means good luck in China. So the perfect date is of course on 08-08-2008. For that reason the Official Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games shall start exactly at 8 hours 8 minutes and 8 seconds on 08-08-2008.
For the same reason a world record of 16,400 Beijing couples have applied so far to have their marriages registered on the auspicious date of 08-08-2008 for their Olympic Wedding. I guess this will be the biggest Wedding Party in the world.

Wow, that is a lot of people getting married! I suppose any luck that a marriage can start off with is always a good thing!

Thanks for sharing your findings! I agree - with the amount of 8's that will be happening this summer it's hard not to get caught up in the superstition.

I am a wedding photographer living in Suriname, a little country in the north east coast of south America. We have a diversity in population and cultural beliefs.
But, sadly there are sometimes very strong boundaries when it comes to ethnicity.
This wedding was a very extraordinary one, because in our nation it is not common that a Chinese marries a black person. So when this wonderful couple asked me to do their wedding I knew that I would be the orchestrator of a eye-catching event.
Quincy and Nancy got the heads turning when they walked down the streets.
This is one of the best weddings I've covered, not because the bride and groom are from different race, but because of the fact that the younger generation shows us that the strong boundaries are in fact a breath of air when love is present.
I remember the 1987 song from The Winans entitled 'Love Has No Color'.

Photographs perform a major part of a Chinese wedding, most couples go to a professional Studio photographer to have their wedding photos taken months before the official wedding party.

It sure would be an easy date to remember. My wife & I wound up with another easy one - 06/07/08 - not likely I'll forget my anniversary!
