Roosevelt asks of Hitler not to invade a list of countries_

World War Two dragged on and on as all wars seem to do.  The Axis powers were in control of much of Europe and threatened the sea lanes of the Atlantic.  Great Britain received reinforcements from Canada to help free Europe.  Great events were changing the world.  Individuals who helped, ranged from the very famous -- Winston Churchill -- to the unknown enlisted person.  While they were separated from friends and family, they tried to maintain some normalcy through letters and wires.  On Remembrance Day, November 11 spare a thought to all those young people who put their lives on hold for us.

My Darling, My Angel

My Own Precious Sweetheart.  I just got word tonight about our wonderful baby being born, Darling and I'm so happy and excited I hardly know what I'm doing.  It's so wonderful Darling and I'm so proud.  I've been tearing around and not knowing where I was going half the time.  I'll try to get my mind collected and tell you what I did.

You may be a little disappointed to know Darling that I haven't received your wire or a letter from you telling me about it yet, but I came in off Guard tonight and there was a letter for me from Rennie, an air mail.  I started to read it and when she was congratulating me and mentioned Diana Joan and everything I almost keeled over, I had to read it twice to make sure, because I had no word from you telling me you had gone to the hospital and I thought surely the wire would have been the first thing to come.  But I'm sure you sent a wire Angel but I guess it has been delayed or something.

Nevertheless, My Precious Angel, I'm so happy to know that the Baby is safely born and that you are both doing nicely.  It's such a wonderful feeling Darling I can't explain it.  If my chest gets any bigger I won't be able to get my tunic on in the morning.

I'd give anything to have you in my arms tonight My Love.  Darling, I feel like laughing and crying at the same time.  I've been getting congratulations from everyone.  I sent you a wire and some roses, Angel.  I hope they will be there soon.  I don't just remember what I put on the wire but it will be with the roses.  All my love goes with them My Precious.

God bless you Darling and our Precious Little Bundle of Love.  My thoughts are always with you Angel and I'm praying for the moment I will be able to take you in my arms.

All my love to you and our darling daughter.  Johnnie xxxxxxxxx
