FOX has hired the creator of popular TV shows like "The O.C.", "Gossip Girl", and "Chuck" to write the screenplay for "X-Men: First Class". The writer's name is Josh Schwartz and the project is expected to bring new life to the franchise. The studios and producers are leaning towards having the younger characters from the three movies star in the latest installment. However, you don't have to wait long to get your X-Men fix. "Wolverine", a spin-off/prequel starring Hugh Jackman, will open in theaters on May 2009.

For me, Sir Ian McKellen made those movies. Hope is not lost: apparently a Magneto origin movie is in the works (though not yet green-lit, and didn't the opening scene of X-Men pretty much sort that out?).
