Yo Dawg, I Herd You Like Herzog: 'Bad Lieutentant' Gets Remade
In today's bizarre film sequel news, it has been announced that filmmaker Werner Herzog is directing a remake of Abel Ferrera's acclaimed 1991 gritty cop drama Bad Lieutenant.
There's only one catch — the entire cast.
Not only has Herzog enlisted the dubious talents of Nicolas Cage to play the role originally portrayed by Harvey Keitel — the other less-than-stellar "talents' to join in the proceedings include pin-up girl Eva Mendes, one-time-Batman Val Kilmer, and rapper-turned-MTV-host-turned-internet-sensation Xzibit.
That's right — this film has two independent internet memes in one movie: Nicolas Cage AND Yo Dawg.
Suffice it to say, the whole thing is so bizarre that it's already spawned a micro-meme in the Twitterverse: #wernerherzogremake — in which Twitter users imagine botched and bizarre films to be remade by Herzog.
But before we get to those inane possibilities, let's just see if anyone is able to sit through Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans when it's released (or heads straight to Blu-Ray) later in 2009.
Something tells me this could be the beginning of the end.

Not a good Idea.
