Zac Efron, 21, and on screen/off screen girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, 20, are reportedly engaged after he proposed to her last month while the couple was in Japan. The High School Musical co-stars have been dating for more than two years and have remained scandal free, which no small feat for such young stars.

Zac Efron has proposed to his High School Musical 3 co-star Vanessa Hudgens, it has been claimed.
Efron popped the question last month while the pair were on a trip to Japan together, the National Enquirer reports.

A source said: "Zac is relieved to be out of the pressure cooker, because Vanessa's mother has been putting serious heat on him to make an honest woman out of her daughter.

"She is old-school and doesn't approve of Vanessa living with Zac without some type of wedding promise.

"Gina already considers Zac a part of the family. So she's happy that he proposed."

The source added that the couple "gel really well together".

Actor Zac Efron has reportedly proposed to Vanessa Hudgens to please her mother. The 'High School Musical' actor popped the question to his girlfriend of three years because her mum doesn't approve of the couple living together out of wedlock. A source said: "Zac is relieved to be out of the pressure cooker, because Vanessa's mother has been putting serious heat on him to make an honest woman out of her daughter." Zac (21), who presented an award at this year's Oscars, is believed to have asked Vanessa (20) to marry him while they holidayed in Japan in January. The source told the National Enquirer magazine: "Zac loves the current arrangement. He adores Vanessa and they get on really well together."

I just think they are way too young - that is ridiculous. Sure they like each other now, but people change so much in their early 20s that they might be totally different people in a few years.

i am so happy that they will be getting married yes maybe they are to young but they love each other so much and that is the main thing in all of this, they have been dating for 3 years and in these 3 years they have gone through so much e.g the photo scandal with vanessa. zac stuck by here and supported her because he loves her so much

i hope it works out for them xx

BOGUS! They are not going to even think about wedding bells anytime soon. Like Vanessa has said, I quote, "Only time will tell." based on wherever their futures take them. They are both smart enough to realize marriage just aren't what they are looking for right now.

THEY EACH BOUGHT THEIR OWN SEPARATE HOUSES...meanwhile Vanessa still lives at home with her mother and Zac has his own apartment. MARRIAGE AHAHA LIES!!!

Yes they are engaged and no i don`t think they are to young.

They love each other and have been together for over 2 years.

They stick byeach other for example the photo scandal with Vanessa, Zac stood by her the whole time and they are still going strong.

They make a wonderful couple.

These people are definitely getting a thumbs up from this one for putting in the effort of dating through the media and coming out successfully after a few years of dating. Good for them! I really hope they succeed in their marriage and believe they will! I do not believe early twenties is 'too young'. If they stick it through the hard and happy times, they will make it. It's refreshing to see a such a lovely young couple in Hollywood. I'm rooting for you two to stick together! Be a role model! Thanks~
