October 16th, 2006...

The doors have closed, the people have rocked, and CBGB's is fading into Legendary Status...

This weekend marked the semi-official closing of punk rock.  Well, at least it marked the closing of the NYC punk spot on the Bowery, renowned for its attitude, cluttered walls, and pissed stained bathrooms, where many believe it all began for music; underground rock.

Take a look at this site for some closing weekend rocking CBGB style...

If you attended this weekends final music event please send us your photos, video, audio...

CBGB's (Country, Bluegrass and Blues), named after the kinds of music owner Hilly Kristal originally intended to offer at the club is closing for good on Oct. 31., after 32 years on Bowery. The photos are from The Sound of Urchin who played the club a few nights ago as part of it's good bye series.

"CBGB's changed the face of rock in New York City and gave countless bands opportunities they might never have had ... to be seen and heard ... at the palace of punk," the legendary rocker Lou Reed told the Daily News. "It will be sorely missed if it does in fact go into the ether of memories."

Since the club's opening in January 1974, the Ramones, Blondie, Television and the Talking Heads are just a few among the who's who of punk and new wave bands that squeezed through the narrow, dimly lit club on the way to the big time.

I travelled to NYC along with Dictators fans from all over the
country to see the band reunite one more time and play the last Friday
and Saturday Nights, making these the last punk rock show at this
legendary club.

It was an incredible weekend. All the old punks
came out to pay tribute to the club and tell stories of all the things
they've seen and done in the last 33 years.

The Dictators were
honored to play these shows and paid tribute to the whole NYC punk rock
scene they are so proud to have helped create.

They ended their
last show by doing a version of "Blitzkrieg Bop" with special guest
Tommy Ramone on vocals. It couldn't have been more perfect.

I wish I could have been there! Sounds amazing!

I'm glad someone sent in a shot of that toilet - surely the worst toilet in the world.
