Dad poisons soup, feeds it to kids to sue Campbells
A man who systematically poisoned Campbells soup and force-fed it to his young children is facing jail time. His intent, he claims, was not to harm his children but rather to sue Campbells and get financial renumeration for the poisonings.
The 41-year-old Cunningham pleaded guilty in February to a charge of communicating false claims by putting in a call to Campbell Soup threatening to sue because the soup was contaminated.
His three-year-old son and 18-month-old daughter were hospitalized twice in January 2006. Authorities said the first time he had forced them to eat soup laced with hot peppers and lighter fluid. The second time he used prescription anti-depressants to poison the children.
