For those of us mourning an earlier morning (the fact that we'll have to wake to darkness for a while longer), a real eye-opener will be just how much of an effect this early Daylight Savings adjustment will have.
Each Jewish community has an appointed official (usually a rabbi) who calculates when Shabbat begins on Friday evenings. This new adjustment to the daylight savings calendar has thrown out all of those calculations and caused some very real concern for those whose observances are strictly lived. Communities all over North America are scrambling to gain new calendars for the year.
On a happy note, a popular Vancouver BC radio station has now collected over 5000 signatures and pledges to move the 'jump ahead' to Friday (today) at 4pm... encouraging us to move into the weekend that much earlier; the benefit is clear to those of us at desks... but think of all of those kids and dogs out there that would be happy to see Mommy/Daddy just a little earlier... hey boss?

Isn't it just a matter of adjusting the already calculated times? Just add an hour.

Thanks for posting this...it's interesting how far-reaching these things are.
