My wife just witnessed a brazen theft at the CVS at Connecticut Avenue and Newark Street, NW. Peggy Robin reports from her cell phone: "A guy filled his hand shopping basket with stuff. He ran out of the store at top speed, basket in hand, jumped into a dark colored SUV, which was parked in front of the CVS (not in the service lane), and then speed off. He was running super fast. I would describe him as a middle-aged, white-haired, white male."

Three CVS employees ran out after him, but couldn't catch him. It's possible that one of the employees was able to get the SUV's license plate number. The police have been called.

Bill Adler, you're wife deserves the NowPublic spot news report of the day award. It's shocking when you witness something like this - sort of makes the world turn upside down a bit.

Many thanks to Robin.
