An archive documenting Edinburgh arts impresario Richard Demarco's lifetime involvement in the arts is to be made available online.

The School of Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College in Dundee is to digitise 10,000 images collected by Mr Demarco over the past 40 years.

The exhibition and theatre director has supported many leading artists, poets and actors throughout his life.

The archive documents many people and places which he has brought together.

Mr Demarco, who is an accomplished artist in his own right, is one of Scotland's most influential advocates for contemporary art.

He helped found the Traverse Theatre in 1963 and has had a major influence on the Edinburgh International Festival.
