Canada's Green Party Leader, Elizabeth May, has recently tried and
failed in my opinion to make light of a recent defection of high
ranking member David Chemushenko. Who, until recently, was the senior
deputy to May. Chemushenko recently announced he won't stand for
election under the Green banner. At this time it is not clear it was a
clash of policy or personality; or if he will be joining another
political party.
Further, in British Columbia, dissent over May's quick decision to not
sign the nomination papers of a leading intellectual and publisher
Kevin Potvin and her making alliances with the Federal Liberals, has
stirred up discussion within the B.C. Green Party executive and member
ranks. Some see May's actions as somewhat autocratic, while calling her
actions akin to "sleeping with the enemy".
