Does the Washington Times have a history of anti-gay bias?
The Washington Times has been said to have a history of anti-gay bias. In this media piece, the articles by the Washington Times cited in favor of this theory are the following:
1. July 25, 2001: Warned of a gay assault on traditional values
2. June 17, 2001: Lauded The Boy Scouts of America for not caving to gay agenda
3. June 30, 2000: Praised Boy Scouts for being one of the last standing institutions not bending to gay agenda: Editorial piece
4. March 2001: Piece juxtaposing Matthew Shepherd coverage with lack of coverage for boys killed by gay males.
Other citations include pieces disparaging gays in the military; mocking the AIDS epidemic; complaining that gays were pushing a platform on the public via political Trojan horses; claiming sodomy was a health risk (with some legitimacy, this writer must add); mocking Kevin Jennings, and questioning the legitimacy of gay advocacy claims.
The Washington Times' history of anti-gay rhetoric
The Washington Times' anti-gay onslaught against Department of Education official Kevin Jennings -- which has featured anti-gay rhetoric, falsehoods, and distortions -- is only the most recent offense in the newspaper's long history of publishing anti-gay rhetoric and smears. Media Matters for America has compiled an extensive -- though by no means all-inclusive -- list of such rhetoric since the late 1980s, including the paper's warnings against the "gay agenda," attacks on the possibility of gay men and lesbians serving openly in the military, minimizing of the AIDS epidemic, and attacks on gay relationships and gay rights.
Wash. Times on the "gay agenda"
Wash. Times warned of a possible gay "assault upon traditional norms and values." A July 25, 2001, Times editorial discussed whether there "is such a thing as the 'gay agenda' ":
Is there such a thing as the "gay agenda"? In other words, are efforts to enact various laws, such as those forbidding "discrimination" against homosexuals and allowing gay "marriage" simply the leading edge of an ever-broadening assault upon traditional norms and values, as conservatives have argued for years? Here's a test case to help you decide.

"The Washington Times is a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Washington, D.C., the capitol of the United States. It was founded in 1982 by Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon, and is subsidized by the Unification Church community. The Times is known for its conservative stance on political and social issues."
IMO, the paper is run by nut cases.

Moon could redeem himself by having a giant gay couples wedding.

Wow, YJ, I had no idea that 1. It was run by the Moon group and 2. that the Moon group was in any way conservative. Yikes! Thanks for that info, I would never have known this. I though perhaps the WT was run by some stuffy old Senators or something. "Live and learn" as Rhonda says.....

There is much more. Moon was a major contributor to both Bush campaigns.

Some gays, as I was told living in San Francisco in the late '70s and early '80s also have an "anti-straight bias".
You guys have run out of real stories by the time we look at whether a newspaper has a bias or not.
Now, a fair story would be to look at the whole newspaper industry and get articles by Goldberg who wrote Bias, and Arrogance, and A Slobbering Love Affair about the relation of the press and Obama.
Sun Myong Moon is a whackjob, but his newspaper is simply the opposition to the Post, a left-wing newspaper that never met a left-wing position it didn't like.

I respect that. Keep us fair and balanced, Roy C.

Well, Roy, perhaps I never had any "real stories" in me in the first place???
