NP Rank:
Does Google Still Matter?
There was a story today in Advertising Age about how McDonalds is trying to re-brand the McJob as something that doesn't suck (good luck with that). So I went to Google to see what came up in their results for that entry. As is almost always the case the first entry was something from Wikipedia. The following entries were from CNN and BBC and Technorati. I've noticed that Technorati comes up in the top 2-3 listings for almost every search these days. So is Google now simply outsourcing results to Technorati and Wikipedia? Is RSS (the thing that drives Technorati) and wiki-driven content simply better than Google? The results seem to speak for themselves:
