Dogster.com and other sites of passion

Here you go all you blogsters! You cravers of all things web social! Online dating sites seem almost passe now… with social networks for dogs, bikes, and sneakers taking off. Common passion web sites are making more sense to some people over typical dating sites.

Is this like if you want to meet someone smart, go to the library? …someone hungry, go to the grocery store?

Hmmmm, I almost feel as if I don’t belong…better go post my cat.

Social networks for dogs, bikes and sneakers

By PAUL THOMASCH

NEW YORK - A San Francisco native who loves the beach, parks, running and dancing, Marco has easily made connections over the Internet, racking up 5,200 on his profile. Not bad for a 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer.

Marco is just one of thousands of dogs with a Web profile on Dogster.com, an online community featuring pet photos posted by owners along with pooch videos, diaries and travel tips.

Dogs not your thing? Cat people can go to Catster.com; car lovers can put their ride on Boompa.com, and there’s Sneakerplay.com for those who are crazy about … well, sneakers. Obsessed with your bike or motorcycle? Give them a profile on Velospace.org or Motortopia.com.

TheBigRuski, the social networking craze is sweeping our culture - the irony: the more people we connect to the less involved we are with each other. do you think dogs see the same pattern? we are going to make a profile for the office dog, Lola. Good Stuff.

I'm trying to imagine Lola surfing the 'net... she does, however, like to chew on my firewire cables.

I flagged this as good stuff. I love Dogster & Catster! I couldn't resist: I added a photo of Owain Glendower, who is running for President of the United States. He has hiw own page on Dogster, a preliminary website, and reportedly will have his full-woof website. Insider sources in the campaign said that Owain's strategy involves "letting some of the big dogs run and wear themselves out" before his frugal campaign gets into full stride.
