Barney's latest movie which premiered yesterday at MOMA, is by far the worst film he has ever made. It's not like all of us are going to see his movies because we think he's going to deliver a three hour ride of adrenaline, so when an artist who is known for his innovative use of materials decides not to do much with them, the work suffers.

I just came across this other account, which cracks me up. It's posted on Dennis Christie's blog "I get my show on the road"

"Last night an anonymous source sitting very close to me went to the US premier of Matthew Barney's Drawing Restrain 9. Here's the brief report:

It
started out really nice & was very colorful. The first hour is all
about whale blubber. Then people in the theater started falling alseep
- big-time dealers, collectors, etc. Matthew Barney was costumed
similarly to Gentle Ben and he is the worst actor ever. Those who weren't asleep were thrashing restlessly while waiting for it to end. The trailer is all you really need to see.

I'm still planning to go see it for myself. Hopefully this weekend."
