Drawing Restraint: New Collaboration between Bjork and Matthew Barney
Husband and wife team Bjork and Matthew Barney have paired up to work on a new project called Drawing Restraint 9. The project is a visual artwork in film form and features a soundtrack by Bjork. Bjork also appears in the film, which is reputed to have tea ceremonies, a shinto marriage, shapeshifters, and of course a lot of vaseline. The two hour and fifteen minute film, which was shot in Nagasaki Bay on board the Japanese whaling shit Nisshin Maru, has as its core idea "the relationship between self-imposed resistance and
creativity, a theme it symbolically tracks through the construction and
transformation of a vast sculpture of liquid vaseline, called "The
Field", which is molded, poured, bisected and reformed on the deck of
the ship over the course of the film."
