AUTORAI 2007, de C,MM,N
The "Stichting Natuur en Milieu" ("Netherlands Society for Nature and Environment" revealed at an auto show last week its atrociously-named "c,mm,n", an open-source car with technical data and blueprints freely available online. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their own improvements. And, of course, it's hydrogen-power and zero-emissions. Hippies.
Environmental sustainability was a key factor in the development of the c,mm,n: the vehicle is therefore a zero-emission, hydrogen-powered 2+2 family car. c,mm,n drivers can also easily share information on traffic conditions, route planning and parking availability.

I'm trying, but I can't get the image of the Homer-Simpson-designed car out of my mind! The thing looks, erm, unattractive, but I like the idea of open-sourced designs. One cool thing about Europe is that, generally speaking,  the car isn't king: it's seen more as a tool than as an extension (or definition) of one's personality. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go crack open a glow-stick and rave to work.
