E.R. problems not uncommon
The crisis in emergency departments is not unique to Fraser Health region, or B.C. or even Canada, said Dr. Tony Taylor, vice-president of quality and patient safety for the health region.
“It’s a problem in most developed countries and appears worse in those with socialized health care,” he told the Fraser Health board of directors its meeting Thursday in Coquitlam. “In the early 1980s, the problem started in Canada and it got worse with regionalization.”
