Earthquake in Taiwan triggers tsunami

Japan's Meteorological Bureau has said a one-metre tsunami triggered by a powerful quake off Taiwan was headed toward the east coast of the Philippines.

"There is a possibility of a destructive local tsunami," the bureau said, saying waves were expected to hit Basco in the Philippines.
