It is almost 17 years since the fall of communist East Germany, but still the regime is commemorated in thousands of street names all over the region. Those who fought the dictatorship, on the other hand, are barely remembered.

I posted this story because I thought is is very interesting. However, I do
not think that there is anything wrong with naming places and streets
after Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht, Ernst Thaelmann, Friedrich Engels or Karl Marx. None of these individuals connected communism with a one-party dictatorship! If anything, they were used as a propaganda tool by the DDR government.
