Elderly woman hurt in 'cowardly, vicious attack' (UPDATE)
An 89-year-old Vancouver woman is in hospital with a broken shoulder after a home invasion and mugging at her apartment in Vancouver's West End on New Year's Day.The elderly woman had been robbed for the first time while she was returning home from shopping on Dec. 31, when a man approached her and took her wallet from her pocket.
Then, somebody buzzed the woman at her apartment the next day, claiming he had the wallet and wanted to return it, Vancouver police spokesman Const. Howard Chow said.
"This 89-year-old woman opens up the door and is met by this person that is standing there. She thinks something is up here and doesn't close the door. He forces his way in anyways and knocks her on the ground.
"He sits her back up in a chair in the living room and he continues to ransack the home looking for any cash or anything like that."
Calling it a "cowardly, vicious attack," Chow said the woman broke her shoulder when she fell.
Police say they are looking for an athletic First Nations male, aged 40
to 50, six feet tall, wearing a dark blue jacket and a red hoodie. Maybe some of you folks up in BC can shed some light on what a First Nations male is, because it sounds like some politically correct non-description of a miscreant who needs a good butt-kicking.
UPDATE Vancouver Police make arrest..........................
Vancouver police have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with
the assault of an elderly woman in a violent home invasion in the
city's West End on New Year's Day.Frederick Joseph Osmond, who was arrested Tuesday, is charged with aggravated assault, robbery and unlawful confinement.
The woman's son, Bob Gunn, said Thursday that his mother was attacked
Monday morning and tied up in a chair while a robber ransacked her
apartment. She suffered a broken hip, a cracked pelvis and a broken
shoulder.
Great work and kudos to Vancouver's finest.
This is one piece of human filth that needs to be locked up for a long, long. time.

Yeah an odd thing really. It took a while for Columbus to realize he wasn't sailing through the Indies (which -I'm sure your realize - is where the name 'indian' came from) but the people who had lived there for centuries had a better sense of the local geography. Is that political correctness or just plain old correctness?

I would call that political correctness. And I still say the miscreant needs a good butt-kicking.

He deserves to be locked up for a long time. No reason to throw bigotry at the problem.

bigotry? Why would you want to throw bigotry at the problem?
