In commemoration of "16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence", organized by DC Women's Human Rights Action Network, and in solidarity with other similar groups throughout the global community, on Saturday afternoon, 3 December 2005, forty demonstrators with pink arm bands gathered at Dupont Circle, in Washington DC, in support of Amnesty International's ongoing 'Stop Violence Against Women' Campaign http://www.amnestyusa.org/stopviolence/index.do.
This particular rally, in Dupont Circle, brought attention to 'End Femicide in Mexico' campaign. Pictures that were displayed at the base of the fountain represented some of the 400 women and girls in Juarez and Chilhuahua, Mexico, that have been murdered, since 1993. More than 70 are still missing. For more information regarding The Women and Girls of Juarez Demand Justice' visit www.amnestyusa.org/juarez.
