June 6, 2007 California - Embers from a Tuesday afternoon brush fire along the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 in Martinez quickly flew up an embankment and ignited a hotel roof, according to the Contra Costa Fire District. The fire began shortly before 5 p.m. Conditions were dry, humidity was low and westerly winds were steady at 10 mph to 12 mph with higher gusts. The cause of the fire is unknown.
