A big-rig wreck blocked Interstate 5 in Southern California this morning, stranding at least 300 people in a snowy mountain pass. Emergency crews are working frantically to clear the road.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Jackknifed tractor-trailers Thursday blocked a stretch of Interstate 5 in Southern California, stranding at least 300 people on a snowy mountain pass, the California Highway Patrol said.

Hundreds of vehicles are stuck Thursday near the summit of Tejon Pass, north of Los Angeles.

Emergency crews worked to open the highway for 300 to 400 vehicles traveling north and south on I-5's Tejon Pass near Gorman, said California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Ehly.

The interstate remained shut for 40 miles south of Bakersfield to north of Santa Clarita, Ehly said.

Hi Brian -

Is there a way to directly add the URL of a YouTube video to this story? Searching via YouTube, I found some footage I was interested in adding, but I was unable to navigate to these stories using the 'search by tags' mechanism.

 Any pointers would be appreciated!

good stuff:

Brian A Kennedy, and to think the Myth of Sunny Warm California lives on for East Coasters.

The I5 along the Oregon-Washington Corridor from Portland to Seattle can driven in as little as three hours, but heaven forbid an ice storm or traffic accident hits, then the 3 hour drive can turn into a 12-14 hour journey or worse, with no backroads to get around it.
