Monte Carlo in Las Vegas Hotel Closed
update: Sat Jan 26, 2007 - The Monte Carlo is Closed until Further Notice. Other hotels are accomadating the displaced and incoming vacationers.
UpDate: 3:30 EST - First report of this fire was 2:00pm Eastern 11:00am Pacific. Firefighters have contained this fire in an hour and it appears that there were no injuries. Firefighter and first reponders did an excellent job on this fire as, based on the satellite view, was potentialy deadly.
Firefighters respond to three alarm fire at Monte Carlo in Las Vegas
Authorities say a three-alarm fire has broken out on the roof of the Monte Carlo hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Guests are being evacuated to the Bellagio and New York, New York.
Flames and black smoke are coming out of the rooftop area of the west-facing side of the hotel.
The Las Vegas Fire Department is on the scene. Firefighters say the fire was reported around 11 a.m. PST 2 pm Eastern 7pm UTC (GMT) by the casino owner MGM Mirage.
NOTE: Iron Mill News, The video quaility is substandard to our usual work. Our DVD recorder was not inline with our satellite receiver. We used a video recorder of our screen.

Was at work when we heard that a major hotel/casino was on fire ... we opened the back door and saw just moments after the fire started, the black smoke. We found out that it was the Monte Carlo. I took a few photos of the fire in its beginning stage.

These pics were taken from the Hacienda overpass. The I-15 North was closed at the Tropicana exit creating a massive traffic jam going south toward the I-215 and beyond.
The cladding on the outside of the hotel was falling from the top and causing other parts of the hotel to catch fire also.
